The Bike
The ideal scenario was to have a tripod because it is stable with solar panels over it. Solar panels on top would allow for shade, less wind resistance, and keep the heights lower to the ground. There is one tandem trike sold from China, but I decided it wasn’t good because the wheels weren’t good for speed. Buying two trikes here would cost too much (about 2000 dollars each), so my dad and I decided we would use our bikes.
After building and wiring the first trailer, which we finished doing in early August, we found an inexpensive, high quality tandem bicycle for sale in our area. We were running out of summertime, so we purchased it and switched the motor to the tandem bicycle rather than building a second solar paneled bicycle.
